Overview of Microsoft 365 Integration

TeamScore offers a powerful and widely used integration with Microsoft 365, designed to provide visibility into user activities across various Microsoft services in a passive, privacy-sensitive manner. This integration automatically connects with Microsoft 365 servers to collect metadata about work users do in email, calendar, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams communications, while ensuring security and data integrity on the server side.

Key Features and Default Integration

  • Automatic integration with Outlook email and Outlook calendar
  • Integration with Teams calls by default
  • For organizations with enabled audit logs, additional data is collected from OneDrive, SharePoint file interactions, Teams chat, and login data

Permissions and Setup Requirements

To connect TeamScore with Microsoft 365, you usually sign up for a TeamScore account and must have administrative privileges on your Microsoft 365 tenant (the organizational domain). If you are not an admin, you won’t be able to grant the necessary permissions to establish this integration.

Why admin access is necessary

Admin access is required to authorize TeamScore to access your Microsoft 365 data securely and to ensure proper data flow and compliance.

How Data is Collected and Updated

Data from email, calendar, calls, and user updates is retrieved using Microsoft’s Graph API. This information is updated multiple times within a single hour, providing almost real-time visibility on your TeamScore dashboard.

Data sourced from audit logs, such as OneDrive or SharePoint file activities and Teams chat interactions, is updated less frequently — typically multiple times per day. This delay is due to how Microsoft distributes audit logs globally and their requirement to provide accurate data only after a few hours.

Security and Privacy Considerations

All data collection is performed in a way that maintains user privacy by only accessing metadata, not the content itself. Moreover, data handling happens entirely on Microsoft 365 servers, preventing tampering and ensuring data integrity and trustworthiness.

Summary

Microsoft 365 integration in TeamScore automatically connects your organization’s Outlook email, calendar, and Teams calls data for robust activity visibility. Additional insights from audit logs can be leveraged if enabled. Admin access is essential for setup, and data refresh rates vary depending on the source. This integration helps you monitor teamwork efficiently while respecting privacy and maintaining security.
