Activity Detail Screen: The Heart of TeamScore
The Activity Detail Screen, also referred to as the Activity View or Activity List, is a central feature in TeamScore that provides managers and executives with a detailed understanding of their team members’ work activities.
Accessing and Navigating the Activity Detail Screen
Users with appropriate permissions, including managers, executives, and individual employees, can view activities for a selected day. The screen features:
- Filter options at the top to customize the displayed information.
- A visual activity bar representing the user’s work from midnight to midnight for the selected day.
- A chronological list of all logged activities within that period, shown below the visual bar.
What Information Does TeamScore Capture?
TeamScore collects metadata about activities to respect user privacy and avoid being a surveillance tool. Examples include:
- Calendar events: attendees but not meeting content.
- Emails: subject and recipients, excluding body content and attachments.
- Calls: logged participant details.
- Chats: participants and chat titles but not messages.
- Files: titles of created or edited files, but not file content.
Using the Activity Detail Screen as a Manager
This screen helps managers identify where team members might be stuck or need assistance, enabling proactive support. For example, seeing an employee spend an unusually long time on a task can prompt constructive check-ins.
Activity Rows: Overview and Details
Each activity is displayed in a collapsed state by default, showing:
- Time the activity was logged.
- Metadata summary for the activity.
- Estimated time spent (scored time) according to TeamScore’s default rules.
You can expand each activity row to see more detailed information, such as descriptive text, commit messages for code activities, repository names, and other metadata.
Default Time Estimates
- Meeting invitations: typically 1 minute.
- Emails: generally 5 minutes (as a middle ground estimate).
- Code commits (via GitHub): typically 10 minutes.
These time estimates can be edited by managers or employees when necessary to reflect actual effort, though this is expected to be rare to avoid extra workload.
Intelligent Time Re-Estimation
TeamScore applies algorithms to aggregate and sanitize logged activities throughout the day, grouping multiple short logs into meaningful entries and adjusting time estimates intelligently. For instance, overlapping edits are not counted as simultaneous work time, and sequential activities will have adjusted durations to reflect realistic effort.
Activity Toggles: Customizing How Activities Are Scored and Displayed
Within each activity detail, several toggles allow customization of how activities are treated in scoring and visibility:
- Scorable Toggle: By default, solo calendar events without attendees (e.g., reminders or personal tasks) are not counted as work (not scorable), but this can be toggled on if desired for certain work-related activities.
- Privacy Toggle: Marks activities as private, hiding details from others (managers or colleagues) and labeling them simply as 'Private' to protect sensitive information.
- Displayable Toggle: Controls whether the activity appears on the visual activity bar. Internal-only activities are usually hidden to prevent clutter but can be shown if preferred.
Location Information and Map Integration
Some activities include a location guess based on IP address lookup, shown as a small map when expanded. If the location is inaccurate or needs adjustment, users can edit the location by searching and saving a corrected address. Changes to IP address mappings are stored privately within your TeamScore account and do not share information outside your organization.
This feature helps meet practical needs like accurately representing remote workers’ locations or company offices.
Summary
The Activity Detail Screen in TeamScore is a powerful, privacy-conscious tool designed to provide meaningful insight into work activities without intrusive data capture. It empowers managers to better support their teams, encourages accurate tracking of work time, and fosters transparency and trust.
Thank you for using TeamScore!
